What is GOTAG.me?
GOTAG.me finds the photographs you appear in at an event. Photographers upload their frames, an automated pipeline reads the BIB numbers visible in each one, and you find yours by typing your number.
How do I find my photos?
Choose your event, type your BIB number, and the photos come back immediately. There is nothing to install and no bot to message — the website is the whole of it.
Do I need an account?
No. Searching and downloading from a free event need no account, no login and no email address. An account is only for buying photos at an event that is selling them.
I searched and found nothing. What now?
Most often the photos are still being processed: a large race is tens of thousands of frames and indexing takes a while after the event. Try again later. It is also worth checking the number itself — a bib obscured by an arm, a jacket or motion blur cannot be read, and those photos will not come back for that number.
What kinds of events does it work for?
Any event where participants wear a visible number — running, cycling, triathlon, walking and corporate events are all in use today. What matters is the number, not the sport.
How accurate is the tagging?
Detection is automatic and it is not perfect. A number can be misread, and a bib that was covered at the moment of the photograph cannot be read at all. That is why an occasional photo of somebody else appears in a result, and why one of yours can be missing.
Are the photos free?
At most events, yes — you can download the full-size photograph at no charge. Some organisers sell their photos instead, and on those events the gallery shows a price and an "Add to cart" button rather than a download. Which of the two it is, is the organiser's decision, not ours.
Are the photos full resolution?
Yes. What you download is the photographer's original file, not a reduced copy. On an event that is selling photos, the preview is watermarked and the original arrives after purchase.
How long will my photos stay available?
That is agreed with the event organiser and varies between events, so there is no one answer we can give for all of them. If you have found a photo you want, download it rather than relying on it being there next year.
Do you use facial recognition?
No. We match photographs by the number on your bib and nothing else. We do not store or process biometric data of any kind — no face, no fingerprint, no iris — and we are not building towards it. A number is something you chose to wear at a public event; your face is not.
Can I have a photo of me removed?
Yes. Email [email protected] with a link to the photo and we will take it down.
I organise an event. How do I get our photos on here?
Write to [email protected]. We work with the event's own photographers, so nothing changes about how the photos are taken — the pipeline reads them afterwards.
